The tip was shared in a TikTok video posted this week by New York-based creator Carly Rivlin, who frequently posts beauty and fashion content online and shares tips, tricks, and product reviews. There is.
In the clip, Rivlin explained how to repurpose products you're not so happy with, starting with shampoo.
“First of all, if there's a shampoo you don't like, it didn't work for you. My favorite method is to use it as a makeup brush cleaner first,” she began. “I actually learned this hack from a professional makeup artist.”
The content creator explained that this shampoo can also be used to clean items other than makeup brushes.
“Sometimes I'll use a shampoo that I'm not attached to to hand wash certain things in the sink,” Rivlin continued.
“Hair scrunchies, headbands, things like that, I'm not necessarily going to put them in the washing machine because they can fall apart. I don't want to use expensive, delicate, hand-washable stuff, but I just wash them. ” Please use shampoo. ”
In the hair care category, Rivlin also offered some ideas for saving hair oils, conditioners, and masks.
“You can use it as a hair treatment,” Rivlin explained, pointing to the bun. “It's in my hair right now. It's not necessarily a slick back, but I use a lot of this product to create a little hair treatment mask situation in my hair.”
She revealed that if you use hair care products in a different way than their intended purpose, you end up falling in love with them.
“If something isn't conditioning well, I love it so I use it a lot to treat,” she explained.
Or, if something is “too conditioning,” use it as a deep conditioning hair mask and tie your hair up in a bun for the treatment.
Next on the list? Skin care items that you want to use up.
Rivlin instructed them to replace them and use them as body products instead.
“When it comes to moisturizers, super thick ones are too thick for my face. I don't even know why I bought them. I use them on my feet,” the influencer admitted.
“I use it on my knees and elbows. It's a great way to use up my moisturizer.”
She also recommended using facial serums on your breasts instead.
“You can use it all over your body,” advises Rivlin, adding that you can feel the effects by using it on your décolletage.
Last but not least, Rivlin had a genius hack for using up body and face cleansers that no longer serve their intended purpose.
“Use it to clean your makeup brushes,” the beauty guru said simply.
In the comments section of her video, some users shared creative methods they use to repurpose products they don't like.
“Don’t use conditioner that doesn’t make you want to shave! “You can also use it as a body highlight on the décolleté and shoulders for highlights you don't want on your face,” one person wrote.
Another person gave advice: “Snail mucin had no effect on my face, but I use it on my legs after shaving as a serum before lotion!!''
“I put shampoo I hate on my nail brush to clean my nails,” another person commented.
One person offered, “Within 30 days, you can take your used beauty products back to Ulta and Sephora for a full refund.”
