A beauty content creator has shared a “life-saving” hack that might make you never want to touch a deodorant stick again.
This wild piece of information was shared in a recent TikTok video by Elle McNamara, who goes by the username Bambi Does Beauty online.
McNamara, who is based in the UK, has gone viral on both TikTok and Instagram for her detailed skincare tips, tricks and other expertise, with some videos racking up millions of views. has reached.
And this week, she revealed another trick that will wow viewers, explaining that PanOxyl facial cleanser can replace traditional deodorant.
“You know how people say this beauty tip will change your life?” McNamara began. “Well, this is actually going to happen.”
“Personal Hygiene Tips 101, use this on your armpits and you won’t even need to wear deodorant,” she continued.
In the clip, she held up a bottle of PanOxyl’s Acne Creamy Wash, which sells for just under $13 in most stores.
“You leave it on for a few minutes, like a mask, and then you wash it off,” she said.
“It kills the bacteria that causes sweat odor,” McNamara promised.
The brand also encouraged viewers to buy the Acne Creamy Wash, which contains 4% benzoyl peroxide instead of 10%, as it makes two versions.
“This is the exact proportion you need for your armpits,” she concluded about the product.
She warned in the video’s caption that benzoyl peroxide can leave stains, so if you decide to try this trick, be sure to use a washcloth that you don’t mind getting dirty.
And it seems like McNamara is really up to something here.
Dr. Tiffany Libby, a Rhode Island-based dermatologist who works with the brand, says the product definitely helps with odor.
“Panoxil contains the active ingredient benzyl peroxide, which helps eliminate odor-causing bacteria,” Dr. Libby told DailyMail.com.
“Apply the wash to your armpits in the shower, leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse it off,” she continued.
Dermatologists recommended applying this product three to four times a week to “inhibit odor-causing bacteria.”
Dr. Navin S. Arora, a dermatologist at Long Island-based Borealis Dermatology, agreed with some of Dr. Libby’s sentiments.
“Benzoyl peroxide works by killing acne-causing bacteria, which are similar to the bacteria that cause body odor,” Dr. Arora told DailyMail.com.
“This allows for an unconventional way to address body odor issues, especially for those who want to avoid aluminum-based deodorants,” he continued.
“However, it’s important to note that deodorants and antiperspirants work by acidifying the skin to thwart bacteria or reduce sweat production. This is different from benzoyl peroxide. It’s the mechanism of action.”
He also said it’s important to make sure you’re using the product in the recommended way.
“Panoxyl can cause side effects such as skin irritation, itching, burning, stinging, redness, swelling and peeling,” an expert told DailyMail.com.
“Mild stinging or burning, dry skin, peeling, peeling, and mild irritation are more common side effects.”
He warned: “People with very sensitive skin should be careful and recommend applying a ‘test dose’ to check for reaction before regular use.”
Primarily, this product can be troublesome if you’ve just waxed, shaved your skin, or had laser hair removal.
PanOxyl should not be used on “open wounds” or “sunburn, windburn, dry, irritated skin, or areas with eczema,” Dr. Arora explained.
“Given these considerations, PanOxyl may help reduce bacteria and potential body odor, but there are benefits and potential risks and side effects, especially considering it is not specifically designed as a deodorant. It is important to weigh the two,” he concludes. Consult your dermatologist or other health care provider before using any product.
However, in the comments section of McNamara’s video, many people seem to be sharing positive experiences with the PanOxyl hack.
“I’ve been doing this for about 3 months now and thanks to the glycolic acid, my armpit odor is gone. Like no one else,” one person wrote.
Another agreed: “She’s not lying.” That’s the best advice I’ve ever received. ”
‘It works! However, you will have to use deodorant, but you can go a day and a half without smell. Before the same day comes,” someone else called out.
Some people recommend that you can use this product on other parts of your body as well.
“For those who suffer from body acne, PanOxyl is also great for acne,” a TikTok user shared.
Another said: “True, I use a body bar instead.” I feel like that would be more effective. ”
