It may be hard to believe that a woman in her 30s has better skin than she did 10 years ago, but that’s certainly the case for one beauty influencer whose skin changes went viral online.
UK-based Bambi recently shared a five-step skincare routine that has worked wonders for her. She uses the handle @bambidoesbeauty and since February 2016, she has logged 5.4 million views on her.
The Instagram clip begins with a selfie from her archives, with the text superimposed over it reading, “20-Year-Old Me: ‘Did you ever get rid of those wrinkles?'” followed by a photo of her Recent images of real faces follow. The text says: : “33-year-old me: “Yes, I used it. I didn’t use Botox.”
The caption reads, “What I did to age my skin in reverse,” followed by the following bullet points: double cleansing, applying a moisturizing mist, and adding retinol (a fat-soluble vitamin also known as vitamin A). She emphasizes her methods of using and layering. Keep your serum moisturized and apply sunscreen daily.
newsweek We spoke to head facialist and esthetician Jess Sedgwick about the video, which has received over 56,360 likes.
Sedgwick said: ”It is important to approach claims of ‘aging reversal’ with a careful and critical eye. While it is entirely possible to significantly improve the appearance of your skin with diligent care, the concept of reversing aging at the cellular level is misleading. ”
“The methods described here, such as cleansing, using moisturizing serums, and applying sunscreen daily, can certainly have a significant impact on the appearance of your skin,” says the dermatologist and cosmetologist. said Sedgwick, who works at UK-based clinic Montrose London.
“Proper cleansing can prevent clogged pores and skin irritation, and moisturizing serums can increase skin hydration and improve barrier function. Sunscreen is a major contributing factor to premature aging. It is essential to protect the skin from damage caused by certain UV rays.”
Sedgwick explained that while skin texture, hydration, and overall appearance can make a person look younger, it’s more about improving existing skin. As opposed to reversing the biological process of aging itself.
“It’s also worth noting that individual results can vary widely based on genetics, the specific product used, and other factors such as diet and lifestyle,” Sedgwick said.
“Although the person may experience noticeable results, it may not be scientifically accurate to attribute these changes to simply reversing aging. It concerns the possibility of delaying visible signs of aging, not fundamentally reversing the aging process.”
