Miuccia Prada can make Tobi look cool and her boxy shape look sexy. She reinvented avocado green, long associated with kitchen appliances since the ’70s, as a desirable color.
The Italian designer brings her glamorous brand of Ugly Chic to Prada Beauty, the company’s new collection of color cosmetics and treatments.
On Friday night, the brand celebrated its recent launch with an elegant cocktail party for several hundred people at Skylight at Williamsburg hotspot The Refinery. In a domed penthouse on the waterfront, revelers sipped champagne and cocktails while snapping photos of the glittering New York skyline.
During the development process, global creative makeup artist Lindsay Alexander met with Miuccia and researched an archive of thousands of fabrics and patterns, pushing the lab to create better formulations than ever before. She also teamed up with her Ines Alpha, a global creative electronic makeup artist who works with 3D software and augmented reality.
Prada Makeup consists of three refillable products in silver and gold metallic packaging, as well as a brush and a blender.
A fan favorite is the Prada Reveal Skin Optimizing Foundation, which has an incredibly high average of 4.6 stars online. Available in 33 shades, it has a soft matte finish and buildable medium coverage that lasts up to 24 hours. One reviewer raved that it “gives you a clean, natural and glowing vibe.” “I’m completely in love with it.”
There are two types of Zero Shine lipsticks: Prada Monochrome Hyper Matte and Prada Monochrome Soft Matte, available in a total of 36 colors. Also included is Prada Balm, a lip smoother and moisturizer.
Prada Dimension’s eye palette is the place to turn heads. Rather than a predictable quartet of neutrals, the brand grouped metallic shimmers and earth tones in runway shades like electric purple and parrot green. “The colors are so vibrant and pigmented that they blend together like a dream,” wrote one reviewer who enjoyed playing with the shades.
Prada Augmented treatment products come in four high-tech options: The Cream, The Serum, The Essence, and The Cleanser & Makeup Remover. All are enhanced with Adapto.gn smart technology derived from rare plants and said to increase the skin’s ability to adapt to its environment.
