The BBC Earth Experience, a multi-sensory experience at London’s Daikin Center produced by BBC Studios, Moon Eye Productions and Live Nation, will end its originally planned two-year run in 10 months. It ended earlier than that.
It was previously announced in November that the 360° audiovisual experience would extend its London run until August 2024 and open in Melbourne. The latter opened at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center on October 27 and will now continue to operate in Australian cities.
It has not been confirmed why the London attraction closed, but a variety of factors are thought to have played a role, including cost and location.
“London is a notoriously tough market for attractions,” Leisure Development Partners (LDP) partner Natalia Bakulina said in a post on LinkedIn. and the amount of free entertainment available. That’s why careful consideration of location, pricing, marketing messages and value provided will be essential.”
The BBC Earth Experience used footage from the BBC Studios TV series Seven Worlds, One Planet and featured bespoke narration by Sir David Attenborough. The Daikin Center is a dedicated demountable venue located at Earl’s Court in London.
Amy Farrant, chief marketing officer of Moon Eye Productions, previously said: access The London edition in December saw a flurry of interest in the show from promoters around the world, with the possibility of it being moved elsewhere.
