Martin Zvimendi has been on Mikel Arteta’s transfer wishlist twice at Arsenal and recently received great praise from Kieran Tierney, a person who knows both players.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already spoken highly of Real Sociedad star Martin Zvimendi, but he may take a closer look at Gunners’ Kieran Tierney’s comments.
Scottish ace Tierney is still at Arsenal, but is currently spending the season on loan at La Liga side Real Sociedad. The former Celtic star is hoping to start his career at San Sebastian after suffering fitness issues for much of his time at the Emirates.
During his time at Sociedad, Tierney was able to get a close look at Zvimendi, a player who has been heavily linked with Arsenal in the past two transfer windows. The 25-year-old Spanish midfielder’s technical ability caught the eye of Arteta.
Tierney’s comments about his Sociedad teammates make for interesting reading from an Arsenal perspective. The left-back singled out Zvimendi as one of his players who deserves particular praise in a recent interview with the Guardian.
The Scotsman explained: ” We have world-class players like Martin Zvimendi, Mikel Merino and Blaise Mendes. It’s not that people don’t think they’re good, it’s just that it’s hard to tell from watching the Premier League every week. they’re world class. ”
Despite spending £105m on a new midfielder for Declan Rice last summer, Arteta’s midfield transformation appears to be far from complete. Zvimendi is seen as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey if the injured Ghanaian is sold in the summer.
It is widely reported that Zvimendi’s release clause is set at a relatively modest £51 million. If the Gunners are serious about their interests, they will make a decision on the Sociedad ace regarding his future at the club.
