A disgraced Briton who filmed himself raping, torturing and killing dozens of dogs has been seen crying in court.
Adam Britton, 53, who has been called “the world’s worst animal abuser”, broke down in tears moments before being sentenced to up to 249 years in prison.
A crocodile expert confessed to 60 terrifying charges of animal cruelty and bestiality inside a shipping container “torture chamber” last year.

Britton’s lawyers told the court he had been influenced by “sexual perversion” throughout the two years he committed his brutal crimes.

As his condition was mentioned in court, a somber-looking Britton sniffled and wiped away tears as a security guard handed him tissues.
Following his response, the case was adjourned pending further psychiatric reports.
It is scheduled to continue on August 8th.
This is the second time the sentence has been delayed in February because the defence team needed time to review psychiatric reports.
At the hearing, Australian Chief Justice Grant said: supreme court In an unusual move, the judge presiding over Britton’s case removed security guards and police from the courtroom.
He said the disturbing details outlined in Britton’s crimes were “shocking and distressing” and could cause an “adverse psychological reaction” to anyone exposed to them.
The report was compiled from 30 sessions that Britton undertook with psychologists to express remorse for his actions.
Despite calls for the death penalty to be lifted, Australia abolished it in 1985.

The senior researcher at Charles Darwin University was sentenced to a maximum of 249 years and will spend the rest of his life in prison.
He is charged with eight counts of bestiality (maximum sentence of three years), four counts of possession and transmission of child abuse material (maximum sentence of 10 years), and 37 counts of aggravated animal cruelty (maximum sentence of five years).
A third animal rights activist said she felt a prison sentence was insufficient for his heinous crimes, but that a heavy penalty was needed.
They said: “He must be punished so that people do not think that animals are meant to be exploited and abused.”
“we [the death penalty] That won’t happen… but it is my personal choice to be incarcerated forever.”
Mr Britton broke down in tears when his mental state was read out during the hearing and a security guard handed him tissues.

The sadistic 53-year-old was friends with Sir David Attenborough and Prince Harry before his arrest for the horrific crimes in 2023.
He was a respected senior researcher at Charles Darwin University in Australia and an expert on crocodiles.
Britton was born in West Yorkshire and received his degree in zoology from the University of Leeds and his PhD from the University of Bristol.
In 1996, he flew to Australia and set up a wild crocodile sanctuary called Big Gecko.
Britton was married to Erin, a biologist and wildlife ranger, but does not appear to use his last name online.
The dog killer was living an abusive double life, but Erin appears to have had no idea about her husband’s crimes.
Working with the crocodiles, the pair have successfully sold footage of the animals to the BBC and National Geographic.
Britton was a popular figure in Australia and regularly used social media to promote his businesses and show off his animals.
He posted the disturbing footage on Telegram in an attempt to connect with like-minded abusers.
In a chilling message on the site, the “world’s worst animal abuser” spoke to strangers about his impulses.
“I’ve been suppressing it, and over the last few years I’ve let it come out again, and now I can’t stop it. I don’t want to stop it.”
Britton’s trial began with his sickening online posts, after an online sleuth noticed a distinctive dog collar in one of his videos and contacted police.
A month after the video was posted, police raided his Darwin home and arrested him.
Police seized 44 items, including computers, mobile phones, cameras, external hard drives, tools and weapons.
Additionally, more than a dozen child abuse materials were found on one of his laptops.
In early July, outraged local residents spray-painted the word “dog killer” on the road outside the site.
