Dingwall, on the other hand, has been called up to the last 10 teams without ever earning a cap. As he told Telegraph Sport last week: “I’m pretty tenacious,” Dingwall impressed England’s coaching staff with his form and consistently punching above his weight.
“I think he’s ready for Test rugby. He’s got a very smart attacking mind, he can pick passes, he’s very good on the line, but defensively he’s very good at Northampton. We’re going to come up with some big plays,” England skills coach Kevin Sinfield said. “He always seems to be around during breaks, he’s there cleaning up, and he’s another player that really impressed me this week.
“He’s a little more like a soccer player.” [than Manu Tuilagi] But he can take over the line. He may not be as big as Manu, but he’s certainly willing to roll up his sleeves and throw himself into the defensive line. He’s very good at strategy and his pass selection is great. He provides another option to move the ball, but I think he provides that grunt up front. He’s not the biggest player, but he’s a player who runs above his weight and can find holes. ”
