A guinea pig was found abandoned at a London Underground station with a note that read, “Needs new home.”
The creature, named Disco Pig, was discovered in a cage in part of East Canning Town station. Londonnot covered by CCTV.
A note was taped to the cage that read, “Needs new owner. Guinea pig.”
The RSPCA said officers discovered the animal at around 4pm on February 18.
Disco Pig, who is believed to be 6 to 12 months old, has been rescued and will soon be available for adoption, according to animal protection officials.
RPSCA Inspector Shahnaz Ahmad said: “He appeared to be healthy and well cared for. It’s very sad that someone would abandon a pet in this way.”
“We encourage people to seek help caring for their pets from their local animal welfare charity, rather than leaving them in such a vulnerable situation.
“Although this guinea pig was found alone, guinea pigs are naturally sociable and usually prefer the company of one or more other guinea pigs.
“Guinea pigs can exhibit abnormal behavior and can suffer if left alone without being together. Abandoning a pet in such a way is an incredibly cruel act and is never a solution. It won’t.”
