A new Teesside salon has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award just weeks after opening.
Denham Hair and Beauty Studio, located in Guisborough town centre, is owned by Emma Fletcher and has been named a finalist in the British Hair and Beauty Awards. The salon only opened on December 5th, but has gone from strength to strength in the weeks since its launch.
Formerly Fatso’s, Emma, a former hairdressing and cosmetology teacher at Middlesbrough and Redcar colleges, took 18 months of hard work to create. Since opening the salon, the staff has been busy performing hair and beauty treatments to new and old customers, and Emma’s customer base has grown by 100 people in her six weeks.
The mother-of-one, from Nunthorpe, said: We are honored to be a finalist for Best New Salon at the National Hair & Beauty Awards.
“I feel like this highlights all of my hard work, recognition and accomplishments that this salon deserves. This business is still in its infancy, has exceeded my expectations since opening, and I’m looking forward to the future.” .
“It’s been going really well so I hope it continues. We started working hard and it was a fun experience.”
Denham is a “modern, high-end” hair salon offering a range of services including bespoke hair color services, Kérastase hair treatments, a tanning room with a “very unique UGlow tan” and a “luxurious” Temple Spa facial. & beauty studio. . Emma said Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen visited the salon last month and had “nothing but positive things to say about the building and the new life we’ve given it”.
Emma’s “little boy” Ilya, whose middle name is the inspiration for the salon’s name, is also a fan of the venue, saying he “loves salons and haircuts.” The ‘proud’ salon boss has also hired two former students, Sarah and Destiny, and plans to expand the team further.
Emma added: “The people in Guisborough have been fantastic, they’ve been really kind to me and have really positive things to say about the building and the business. Starting a new business is always difficult but we’ve done well.” he added.
“Local businesses have been really good to me and I can’t thank them enough for their warm welcome. In fact, many businesses on the high street come to me for hair and beauty treatments, which themselves are very It’s positive.”
