The band always seems to stick together – Blue Bendy comes together like one great entity. “People often say we look like we’re in a different band or that we shouldn’t be together, but it’s a very collective experience,” Nolan added.
One collective experience that Nash promises to relate to is accidentally jumping into a swamp together. That day, they also wrote their third song, “Darp.” very medieval. The band was on tour with Deep Tongue, staying in what Arthur describes as an old school/arts retreat in the middle of the Derbyshire countryside. “As we were walking towards the pub, there was this thing that looked like a very attractive pond. I said if I had enough drinks I’d join in on it,” he laughed. “Anyway, we all had a glass of rum and then got on this little boat,” Olivia grins. “Joe got on first. It was very beautiful and quiet with the moon in it, but it was just sludge.” Arthur added, still laughing. It was one of the best times we’ve ever had as a band. ”
When they returned from the swamp, they lined up at the building’s only shower and slept on one long mattress on the floor. “We don’t have any arts grants yet,” Olivia says. “So we always sleep together on one long mattress.”
