They were on the outskirts of London, but a mysterious presence seemed to be following them.
A luxurious vacation.
In a new exclusive interview about Blazing Minds at the Romford Horror Film Festival, I had the chance to ask the director. Francesco Gabriele I have some questions about his movie “Behave”.
Behave will be screened at the Romford Horror Film Festival on Sunday 3rd March from 2pm.

Q. Your film Behave has been selected to screen at the Romford Horror Film Festival.
Can you tell us what we can expect from this movie?
A. Yes, I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity. This is my third time attending this festival, and I have screened there before. ”for sale‘ and ‘enchantment‘. I love the feel and atmosphere of Romford Horror. “Behave” is a mix of horror and mystery, with a giallo movie feel to it. I think it features interesting and quirky characters and offers a good mix of suspense and jump scares.
Q. What drew you to Dan Sproson’s script for “Behave”?
Georgia Viello’s original idea?
A. When georgia I’ve always wanted to make a slasher with Italian elements and a bit of the paranormal, so she pitched her idea to me. Incorporating all the elements of her original idea into a low-budget script was no easy task. Dan SprosonThe screenwriters did a great job of combining all these elements to create an engaging story with three-dimensional characters, and also managed to add some interesting and mysterious parts. .

Q. What influenced the look and style of the film?
A. Certainly, giallo movies from the 70s, like “”body‘ by Sergio Martino and ‘deep red‘ by Dario Argento. But also, inevitably, scream‘ by Wes Craven and ‘urban legend‘ by jamie blanks. I love Italian giallo and 90’s slasher movies.
Q. Were there any changes to the script during filming?
A. There are many. The shooting script is completely different from the final version of the film that appears on screen. Due to external factors beyond our control, some scenes were deleted and others were completely rewritten on the day. For example, there were some scenes that were going to be shot outdoors. Unfortunately, around the time we were scheduled to shoot, it snowed like never before, and the entire filming location was covered in snow. I’ve lived in London for over 10 years, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen so much snow in London. But obviously things happen. An important aspect of directing an independent film is being able to adapt to external situations and challenges. As a result, the entire scene had to be rewritten on the day of filming so it could be shot indoors.

Q. What was the most fun moment during filming?
A. I remember a very wonderful moment on set when the staff and actors were very satisfied with the result. It’s always great to see people around you having fun and getting excited about what they’re doing. ! Oh, and the amazing lunches our amazing production manager Fallon Parker made for us each day! It was a very fun and relaxing time. The place also had a beautiful and large kitchen so we could spend time together chatting and laughing.
Q. What makes Behave different from others in the horror genre?
A. A lot of horror, especially the slasher genre, has clichés that we tried to avoid, or even poke fun at, in some cases. As I mentioned earlier, Scream was definitely a major reference for us. Because I love how it doesn’t take itself too seriously and breaks many of the horror stereotypes of the time. Horror has evolved and new stereotypes have emerged, but we tried to approach “Behave” the same way, trying not to take it too seriously and always questioning the supernatural elements.

Q. What do you want people to take away from watching this movie?
A. First of all, I want you to have fun and enjoy your trip. I hope they laugh, get scared, and empathize with the characters in this movie. I also touch on serious topics, so I’d be happy if someone noticed. I cannot reveal which topics. Otherwise, the surprise will be ruined. And obviously, if someone in the audience continues to think about the movie and/or the characters and their backstories hours and days later, that’s great.
Q. Are there any other projects you are currently working on?
A. Yes, there are several at the moment. All in the horror and dark comedy genre. Among them, I’m currently working on a feature-length version, The Italian Miracle, based on an award-winning short film I directed a few years ago. We are also preparing to shoot a feature-length horror film this summer.
Q. If someone was looking to direct their own film, what advice would you give them?
A. Work in pre-production as much as possible. Share your vision through shot lists, location scouting, and conversations with cast and crew. Because when you’re on set, you only have time to execute things. Also, be open-minded and always positive. Circumstances change and are unpredictable, but the more prepared you are, the more you can adjust and solve problems. In the end, enjoy the journey and be grateful that you’re making your own film.
