Sam Thompson was heavily criticized online after he asked Timothée Chalamet a question at the press junket for Dune: Part 2, and it looks like the question didn’t go down well with the big star and his fans.
Sitting in front of Austin Butler, 32, and Timothy, 28, at a press conference to promote the second installment of the sci-fi adventure blockbuster, Sam seemed a little nervous about his role as interviewer.
The 31-year-old joined the station in 2022 and was on a junket for his Hits UK radio station.
The Made in Chelsea star asked Timothy, who plays lead role Paul Atreides in the space epic, how he and his friend Zendaya, 27, cope with the romance scenes in the film. .
Of course, it’s no secret that Zendaya is dating Tom Holland (also Timothée’s best friend), and he’s been questioned about it many times in the past, with fans rolling their eyes at the question. .
Many people pointed out that romance scenes aren’t weird for actors, because that’s their job.

“Now, Timothy, I know that Zendaya is your buddy. As someone who’s not an actor, I would think, yeah, it’s very difficult – you’re obviously in a relationship with someone who’s also a friend of yours. “It’s not like you don’t know them. They’re your friends,” Sam said, looking a little uncomfortable.
He then asked, “Is it easy or difficult to form a relationship on screen with someone who is your friend in real life?”
In response, the Wonka actor looked down at the floor without meeting Sam’s gaze and said: “There’s no good answer to that.” I feel like that’s what this story needs.
He continued politely, looked up and said, It’s just the nature of the job. ”
“They asked again,” wrote X’s fan account @dunendaya, before holding up a photo of Timothy’s face and adding, “He’s done.”
“They’re almost 30 and they’ve both been professional actors since they were teenagers!!! Why are people so into this,” @Lesleypalf commented.
X user @WhyyTom added: “Do these people just not understand how acting works?” This question has been asked for hundreds of years, always with the same level of weirdness. ”

“It’s so funny when interviewers discover things that actors have been doing for decades,” said @NiccoSwan.
In response, Sam responded to the hate by saying, “You saw the part where I asked Timothy if he wanted to play Call of Duty with me. He would have loved it. hey.”
Others defended Sam and suggested he may not have been the one who came up with the question.
“Sam Thompson please stop. He is clearly not the one who came up with the question,” said @Sfa7jm.
Meanwhile, a reality TV star who started her career on Made in Chelsea, which followed a friendship group of wealthy London socialites, is offered a press junket despite real journalists being turned away. Some were angry that they had access to it.
“This guy Sam Thompson is not a real journalist and no actor should be interviewed by someone like him. This is so scary to watch,” @panslabyrnth commented.
@emsth0ughts, an aspiring junket journalist, reposted the video and wrote, “Sam Thompson is likeable, but he doesn’t want to break into journalism when influencers and celebrities have no experience in the field and want to move up.” I’m so tired of being handed work on a platter.” I’m very disappointed in my career of being a press junket interviewer. ”

“I know people who fought hard to get at least one minute of junket access with the Dune stars as an outlet for themselves and prepared meaningful questions,” @rendy_jones commented, He went on to say: in? ! Reality star? !
iD editor Douglas Greenwood shared the clip and said: “One of his journalists who couldn’t make time for Dune: Part 2 is here with a press junket!”
He added: “Who knows that a movie studio would cram interviews with six influencers into a box where a respected publisher could produce a thoughtful and engaging piece of journalism, filmed or not?” I’m waiting for the moment when I realize it’s not worth my time!”
This comes after Sam’s Made in Chelsea co-star Jamie Laing has taken on the role of Radio 1 presenter, replacing Jordan North, who left to join Capital Radio. It comes after some listeners accused the BBC of being “classist”.
