Volvid and Velox will film live 3D content at UK House and British Music Embassy during SXSW
Volvid and Velox, two innovative British startups, are joining forces at SXSW 2024 to demonstrate the most accessible 3D immersive content capture and sharing ever. With just one capture, you can create video-realistic digital renderings of your interviewees in minutes instead of days.
The team presents a future where immersive 3D capture is democratized. They combine his capture, processing, production and storytelling expertise to capture his 3D interview footage with thought leaders and musicians using one of his iPads.
The recording will feature photorealistic 3D versions of the interviewees rendered in record time within the brand’s attention-grabbing 3D environment. This demonstration will showcase the opportunity for viewers to enjoy this UGC as a game, VR, AR, or spatial experience across smartphones, browsers, or XR wearable platforms.
Volvid and Velox will be installed in the popular British House Pavilion on Saturday 9th March and Tuesday 12th March, before interviewing a range of music artists backstage at the British Music Embassy throughout the week.
This collaboration will deliver a wealth of unique 3D content delivered on social media from SXSW, the global intersection of media, culture and technology.
Volvid is led by music industry heavyweight Ed Jenkins, who has managed some of the world’s biggest electronic music acts. He co-programmed the 2020 VR Glastonbury Festival and produced the world’s first live music stream with Volume His videos during the event. Volvid will be attending his SXSW with the Innovate UK GBIP trade mission.
One of the few startups to win two highly competitive IUK grant awards in 2023, Volvid is the world’s first company that allows fans to “get closer to the artist” by sharing live entertainment experiences in AR on their smartphones. We have developed a social app “Rivar”. Rivar is in beta and will be generally available in Q2 2024.
Velox was founded in 2019 by Alex Grona. He served as a technical specialist for many major game studios such as his EA Games and Sony, and was involved in the FIFA series. The Velox plugin allows developers and content creators to easily capture real-world events and create accurate digital representations of real-world locations. This is a key component to realizing the full potential of spatial computing. Since its availability in Q4 2023, the Velox plugin has been downloaded more than 50,000 times.
Velox’s USP is its ability to capture and create volumetric video 3D content using only one or a few mobile devices, such as an iPad or iPhone.
Ed Jenkins, founder of Volvid, said:
“We are demonstrating a vision for a new frontier in accessibility that enables the capture and creation of immersive 3D experiences at scale. Integrating Velox Capture into Volvid’s Rivar social mobile app gives all creators the tools to capture 3D versions of themselves in immersive, video-realistic ways, a big change from traditional 2D media streaming. will be available.”
Alex Grona, founder of Velox, said:
“With this partnership at SXSW, we want to reimagine the concept of immersive 3D experiences. This unique integration with Rivar is the first step in providing user-generated content tools to our clients. By introducing our common solution at SXSW, we hope to prove that anyone with a single camera can capture real-time events.”
