A woman went viral on TikTok after sharing how difficult it is to find a job in Los Angeles.
Ansley (@tiny_tobasco) is a California-based actor and writer. However, in her recent video, she stated that she is having a hard time finding another side hustle. As of Saturday night, her video had been viewed more than 295,600 times.
“I feel like if I say it’s hard to find a job in Los Angeles right now, people think I’m being incredibly silly,” she said. To prove her point, she told her viewers about the role she’s currently running for. “I’m currently on my third interview for the cafe job,” Ansley said.
Ansley said the job is essentially a “server position” and “no education or background required.”
“And now I’m going to have a third interview,” she said. “We had over 450 applicants and we would like to thank them for that.”
In recent years, several content creators have taken to TikTok to share how difficult it is to find steady work. In October, he said job seekers with 10 years of experience submitted more than 500 applications. Another job seeker said in January that he had applied for 1,400 jobs in the past eight months but had not been hired.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate is currently 3.7%. U.S. employers also added a staggering 353,000 jobs in January, a sign of the resilience of the labor market in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, in the comments section, viewers lamented that they were still having trouble finding work.

“I had three interviews for a hostess job and two employee references. I just couldn’t understand it,” said one job seeker. “My 13th reason”
“The market is bleak. I received hundreds of applications and just had my first interview yesterday,” another added.
“It’s hard to find a job anywhere right now. I’ve had 17 interviews this month,” another person wrote.
Meanwhile, other viewers questioned whether it was a red flag that the position Ansley applied for required so much effort from the applicant.
“I’m worried about employers who can’t figure out how to fill this position in two rounds at most,” one person warned.
“A job with rounds is not a job. I mean, the turnover is insanely high,” another added.
The Daily Dot reached out to Ansley via a comment on TikTok.
