Russian media has released photos that appear to show Tucker Carlson in Moscow, as they claim he is scheduled to interview President Vladimir Putin.
The former Fox News host, 54, arrived in the capital on February 1 and was reportedly spotted at a performance of Spartacus at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Rumors of an upcoming interview with Putin surfaced after a photo of Karlsson was shared in Moscow.
Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene defended the possibility of Carlson meeting with Putin. and attacked those who criticized him.
“We have a free press in this country, and people like Tucker Carlson count on us to tell the truth,” she wrote in Saturday’s X.
Russian media shared images of Karlsson, leading many to believe he could become the first Western journalist to interview Putin since the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Democrats and media propagandists are shuddering at the prospect of Tucker Carlson interviewing President Putin,” Greene said.
“They feel entitled to a position of gatekeeper and believe that they are the ones who tell them what to think and believe.
“They don’t like it when someone like Tucker goes ‘off script.’ ”
Karlsson reportedly arrived in Moscow on February 1st on a flight from Istanbul, marking his first visit to the country.
The former news anchor, who has defended President Putin in the past, claimed he tried to interview the Russian president last year but was stopped by the US government.
He opposed U.S. aid to Ukraine and suggested the West was responsible for the invasion.
His show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” was once the most-watched cable news program in the United States until it went off the air in April 2023.
Karlsson has now launched his own show, X, where he interviews Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the controversial Andrew Tate.

Russia 1 channel anchor Vladimir Solovyov implored Carlson to “come with him” following his sudden departure from Fox News.
Meanwhile, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in September that “the time will come” for Western media to interview the Russian president.
He added: “We’ll have to wait and see if Carlson is included in the interview list.”
Bill Kristol, who served as chief of staff to the vice president during the Reagan administration, suggested that Carlson be temporarily barred from re-entering the United States.
“Perhaps we need to completely suspend Mr. Tucker Carlson’s re-entry into the United States until our national representatives figure out what’s going on,” he said.
