You should always be wary of dangerous foods, whether it’s dangerous mushrooms or wild berries. We know that there are some things that we simply shouldn’t eat. Health experts have created a list of the seven most dangerous foods in the world. We have added some foods to the list that may surprise many.
Many of the items on the World Health Organization (WHO) list are dangerous because they may not be properly prepared or stored. International organizations estimate that approximately 600 million people become ill each year from contaminated food.
It goes on to say that around 420,000 people died last year from eating contaminated or improperly prepared food. According to health authorities, some of these people will test their limits by eating foods that are not good for them, reports the Mirror. Here’s a list of the seven most deadly foods.

1.Fugu
“What is blowfish?” you may ask. This is a Japanese dish using pufferfish. Puffer fish can be deadly poisonous to humans due to tetrodotoxin, so it must be carefully prepared by chefs to remove any toxic parts that contaminate the meat. Tetrodotoxin is 1,200 times more lethal than cyanide, and one fish contains enough poison to kill 30 adults.
To avoid this, the cook must specially remove the eyes, brain, ovaries, liver and intestines of the corn. If the chef fails to do this, the customer can suffer from respiratory paralysis within 24 hours.
2. Ackee fruit
This deadly fruit, which was banned in the United States in 1973, contains a toxic substance called hypoglycin A when unripe. This increases the risk of hypoglycemia (low sugar in the blood), which can put a person into a coma or lead to death.
For fruit to be safe to eat, it must be ripened on the tree and blanched before consumption to reduce toxin levels. The fruit is ripe when the outer shell splits into three white parts. If the flesh is still yellow, the fruit is immature and is not safe to eat. This is known to cause ‘Jamaican vomiting sickness’, which can lead to coma and even death. Properly aged frozen canned akki is safe to eat.

3. Sannakji
This is a Korean dish made with prepared and sliced live baby octopus tentacles. Sunnakuji are not poisonous on their own, but if you don’t eat their wriggling tentacles correctly, they can kill your guests. Its tentacles can pierce the roof of the mouth, narrowing the airway and causing death by suffocation. According to Food and Wine magazine, six people die each year from eating sannakji.
4. Hakar
Hakarl is fermented shark meat from Greenland obtained from poisonous sharks. It contains high concentrations of trimethylamine oxide and uric acid, which can cause extreme poisoning and intestinal damage, as well as neurological effects and even death. However, the toxins can be neutralized by rotting them. Sharks were traditionally buried under sand for months before drying out while preparing to kill the poison. Most people say it leaves an aftertaste similar to urine. Improperly cooked hakarl can cause negative side effects.
5. Rhubarb
Rhubarb is commonly made into jams and pies. The stems are safe to eat, but you need to be careful with the leaves. Green leaves contain a toxic substance called oxalic acid, which can be fatal if eaten in excess. Eating just a few leaves can cause unpleasant side effects such as a burning sensation in the throat and mouth, nausea, difficulty breathing, and diarrhea.

6. Cassava
This is the tropical root used to make tapioca, but raw cassava contains cyanide, so it’s important to prepare it correctly. Bitter cassava has much higher cyanide content. Preparation for safe consumption varies. Sweet cassava must be cooked so that it is safe to eat. However, bitter cassava must be grated, soaked, and cooked first to reduce the amount of poison.
7.Red kidney beans
Red kidney beans are a favorite in many cuisines, but they contain large amounts of phytohemagglutinin, making them highly toxic if not cooked. This can cause red blood cells to clump together and cause severe food poisoning. To reduce the level of phytohemagglutinin, it must be pre-soaked and boiled.
