The 2024 Betfred World Match Play gets underway on Saturday night, with reigning champion Nathan Aspinall and world champion Luke Humphries headlining a star-studded opening night in Blackpool.
The first day of the £800,000 prize money event will see the opening four first round matches take place at the Winter Gardens, with Aspinall beginning his title defence against debutant Luke Woodhouse.
World No.1 Humphries will also face World Matchplay newcomer Ricardo Pietreczko, while 2023 runner-up Jonny Clayton will face five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld, a 2010 finalist.
2022 runner-up Gerwyn Price will open this year’s tournament at the Empress Ballroom, with the Welshman facing two-time semi-finalist Daryl Gurney for a place in the last 16.
The Betfred World Matchplay will be broadcast live in the UK and Ireland via Sky Sports, the PDC’s global broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and also on PDCTV (except for subscribers living in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
