Inverclyde Nature Reserve is set to receive £200,000 worth of improvements to improve biodiversity and visitor experience.
Inverclyde Council commissioned the Green Action Trust to carry out a range of work at the Coves Local Nature Reserve (LNR), which borders Greenock and Gourlock.
The project includes improving trails, managing existing forests, planting new woodlands, removing exotic and non-native plants, and creating species-rich grassland areas.
Work is expected to begin this month and last for nine weeks.
Councilor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde City Council’s Environment and Regeneration Convener, said: “We have so many wonderful natural outdoor spaces, including the Coves Regional Nature Reserve, and it’s important that we do everything we can to keep them in top condition.”
“This significant investment in this site is in line with the council’s environmental commitment and ambition to make Inverclyde a better place to live and visit, increasing biodiversity and making it even more attractive to residents and visitors. It will be a place.”
Mike Buttley from project delivery partner Green Action Trust said: “It’s so important that we work with our local authority partners to improve our local green spaces so they can continue to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

The project is supported by the Scottish Government’s Nature Recovery Fund, managed by NatureScot.
