As the hot weather approaches, having fresh ice on hand for basically every drink, whether it’s your morning iced coffee or a refreshing bubbly drink in the afternoon, is ideal. However, not many of us have the freezer space (or the freezers themselves) to make large trays of ice.
If you’re sick of buying cheap ice from the shops, why not check out this Palinth ice maker on Amazon, it’s reduced from £89.99 to £76.49, with a coupon for Prime members saving you an extra £10 – a massive discount that easily makes it Amazon’s lowest price ever.
It’s a countertop machine that’s a bit like an air fryer, but it can make a ton of ice in two different sizes. The ice is stored in a tray with a lid, so you can easily access it when you need it. It can apparently make nine ice cubes in about six minutes.

This means that if you suddenly need ice, this product is a better choice than other freezers. A quick search will show that other ice makers are also often more expensive than the Palinth’s – for example, this chunky HOMCOM one in B&Q is £149.99, and the Costway version in The Range is £79.95 (reduced from £109.95) – but these come with a few more optional features that you might have to pay for.
So this Amazon deal is definitely a steal, but what do users think of it in real life? The Palinth Ice Maker has an average rating of 4.7 stars from over 100 reviews, which is very good.
Some of these reviews are particularly pleased with how quickly the machine works, with one person writing, “Really fast at making ice. The whole basket is pretty much full within an hour,” while another wrote, “No complaints about this product. Works great. Two ice sizes available, firm, pretty fast at making ice, compact and quiet machine. Works as advertised.”
These are pretty comprehensive, and a third user agreed, writing: “Makes ice instantly when you need it. Great little machine and works great. Love it.” However, some naysayers pointed out a few minor issues they encountered with the device.
One verdict goes into detail about the fact that ice made by this machine is always cloudy, which may not bother many: “Cloudy ice has both good and bad points. The bad points are that it may be less attractive for use with, say, whiskey, and the ice may also be slightly less solid and therefore more brittle (the cloudiness is due to air trapped during the flash freezing process), and the apparent amount of ice in your drink may be a little more than with conventionally frozen ice.”
Another review mentioned a different glitch: “Sometimes the machine will send out a faulty product. The machine will run through and produce cold water with a little bit of ice in it. This is rare, though.”
This could be a bigger issue, but each problem seems to only affect a small number of buyers, so if you need ice quickly and regularly, buy a Palinth ice maker and you’ll be pleased.
