While Delhi only has seven elected MPs, winning there is a big gain for political parties as India’s capital is the seat of power and is where Parliament sits.
Early trends show Modi’s NDA coalition is leading in all seven seats.
The BJP also won a landslide victory in Delhi in 2019, winning every seat in the state, but this time the fight was expected to be much tougher.
That’s because just weeks before voting begins in mid-April, Delhi’s popular chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested and jailed on corruption charges.

Kejriwal accused the government of making false allegations against him as his party had defeated the BJP thrice in Delhi state elections.
The Supreme Court last month granted him bail to allow him to campaign for his party, the Ahmed Aami Party (AAP). He will return to jail on June 2 after the polls end.
At an election rally, Kejriwal urged his supporters to vote for his party to ensure he is not jailed for long.
But if early trends continue, it will not be good news for the Delhi chief minister.
