According to Deadline, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has joined the cast of the new Jurassic World movie.
The news about the 43-year-old actor, who was revealed on Friday and will reportedly star alongside Scarlett Johansson in the next film, has already garnered attention from longtime fans of the series.
Details of the character played by the “Lincoln Lawyer” star are currently being kept secret.
Development of the next film in the Jurassic Park series was first revealed to the public in January of this year when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that David Koepp would be writing the screenplay for the film.
The screenwriter also co-wrote the original 1993 version, directed by Steven Spielberg, based on Michael Crichton’s novel.
The 77-year-old filmmaker will serve as executive producer of the new series.
Cope went on to write the screenplay for Spielberg’s 1997 film The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
The Schindler’s List director went on to serve as an executive producer on all three films in the Jurassic World film series, released in 2015, 2018, and 2022, respectively.
The latest three films in the series starred Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing.
However, the two performers have no plans to reprise their past roles in the upcoming feature.
It has also been revealed that Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill, who played Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Alan Grant, will not appear in the new movie.
David Leitch was reportedly in talks to join the series as a new director, but ultimately dropped out of the project.
It was revealed that Gareth Edwards began talks to direct the film in February of this year.
According to Deadline, Jonathan Bailey, best known for his work on the Showtime series “Fellow Travelers,” entered talks to produce the film last month.
Plot details of the upcoming feature are currently being kept secret.
The new Jurassic World movie is currently scheduled for release on July 2, 2025.
