“My attitude towards beauty has changed quite a bit over time,” says Diane Kruger. “When I was younger, I didn’t really think much about skin care. I was definitely guilty of not always cleansing and being kind to my skin.”
The award-winning actress is in Berlin to celebrate her recently announced role as an ambassador for hair care brand Schwarzkopf, and we sit down with her here. bazaar Because she shares her must-have travel beauty products.

“I don’t like wearing too much makeup,” she says. “You can add this [tinted moisturiser] For areas that need more coverage. It feels very natural and fresh all day long. ”For more targeted coverage, she employs professional color correction techniques. “As a concealer, I use Make Up for Her Ever’s Cover Up. I mix green and orange for coverage, to cover blemishes, and to correct color when I get small blemishes. I like it.”
Beyond self-care, the actress uses beauty as a form of self-expression. “Makeup, hair…they’re all great tools to help you become the woman you want to be that day. I definitely feel most confident when I wear my makeup a certain way. I think it’s the same with clothes: who I want to be. You can become.”
When it comes to her hair, Krueger’s signature blonde is probably her most famous beauty element, but she also shares the benefits of color experimentation. ”[It allows you] To look softer, stronger or sharper. I think it’s fun. As a woman, you change and evolve throughout your life, and this can be achieved through hair and makeup. ”
But, of course, maintaining the quality of your hair is most important. “I often get my hair professionally done, so it’s often not in its best condition. When I’m not working, I try to do as little work as possible and be very gentle…I don’t put stress on my hair. My hair is very thin and I don’t use too much product and it gets flattened and I don’t really look good with straight hair, so I love having natural curls.” What is the actress’ go-to product to compliment her? Family also plays a formative role in Krueger’s beauty philosophy. Much of her own makeup and skin care ethos was shaped by her mother’s attitude towards self-care. “From an early age, her mother loved to wear makeup,” she says. “I would always watch her do her make-up and hair in the morning. She was the kind of woman who would never leave the house without taking care of herself. She was definitely my personal care partner. It shaped the way I do things.”
Similarly, I now cherish the beautiful moments I spent with my own daughter. “I try to instill the same discipline towards hair and skin in her daughter,” she says with a smile. “I love spending time with her in the bathroom. I take a bath, wash her hair, teach her how to brush her hair, and put on moisturizer. She always asks me, ‘Why don’t you put on moisturizer? Do I have to?’ And I’m like, ‘One day you’ll thank me!’”
