The new name, announced at IHRSA’s annual trade show in Los Angeles, signals the organization’s commitment to global recognition.
Founded in 1981 as IRSA and transitioned to IHRSA in 1994, the world’s leading community of health and fitness professionals is entering a new chapter with a new name: Health & Fitness Association.
President and CEO Liz Clark announced the new innovation during her President’s Address on Wednesday, March 6, ahead of her 2024 keynote address at the annual convention and trade show in Los Angeles this year. The company name was announced.
“Every industry is evolving, and the next step in the evolution of our association is to have a name that accurately reflects the breadth, diversity, and consumer orientation of our sector’s businesses,” Clark said. he said. “The Health & Fitness Association is clear, compelling, and also easily translatable into any language, which is very important given the association’s international reach and the worldwide activities of its members.”
As a global community of industry leaders supporting organizations working in advocacy, education and research, Clark said the new name reflects the group’s continued dedication to an ever-changing landscape.
“This decision is particularly important as we focus on the association’s core mission of advocacy to governments, media, NGOs and key stakeholders around the world,” she continued. “Starting today, there can be no question about the clarity of the Health & Fitness Association’s mission, vision and purpose.”
While IHRSA helped accelerate the fitness industry’s return to normalcy in the unprecedented post-pandemic environment, Clark said the Health & Fitness Association is now moving the industry from surviving to thriving and beyond. He emphasized that the aim is to transition to

In addition to pursuing the goal of supporting the best possible business environment for the industry, Mr. Clark also highlighted the work IHRSA has been doing in Washington, DC.
“We have dramatically increased our media exposure and awareness,” Clark said. “This is why the White House, CDC, Congressional leaders and policymakers are now consulting our team. We are not only earning respect, we are earning it. , and we’re just getting started.”
The Health & Fitness Association has adopted the hashtag #HealthFit and plans to roll out a full brand “look” across its website, social media platforms and other materials in the coming months.
