Founded by music lovers and entrepreneurs Sam Roberts, Tapyard Studios is the culmination of his extensive background in music performance, production, and hospitality. “Music is really at the heart of the operation.” Roberts says.. “Tapyard Studios is the culmination of all these experiences.”
Roberts, who moved to Newcastle from Leeds to realize his vision, highlights the city’s thriving music scene and vibrant community spirit as key factors in choosing his location. “Newcastle were perfectly aligned with our goals.” he explains. “The city’s sense of community and passionate support for music made it an attractive choice.”
The venue will soon feature three state-of-the-art studios and already has a huge live performance space, making it a premier destination for musicians and music lovers. “Our goal is to create an atmosphere where performers feel motivated to do their best and audiences have an unforgettable experience.” Roberts added.
A true selection of the Northeast’s most pioneering artists has been hand-picked to grace the stage at Tapyard Studios. We will be holding a launch party on Sunday, March 31st.

In addition to providing top-notch entertainment, Tapyard Studios also aims to support the next generation of musical talent. Mr. Roberts is also the owner of We Are Heard, a venture that partners with schools to record albums and generate funding, in keeping with Tapyard’s mission to develop local talent.

Adding even more excitement to the launch of Tapyard Studios, Newcastle’s Notion Live Event – Teams from Shin Gigs, A Stone’s Throw Festival, and Bobiks, is excited to announce our partnership with the venue, which will spearhead a program of vibrant music offerings.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to have a musical program in a new venue.” says founder Ant Thompson. “As a company, we have worked with local developing artists and are still passionate about advancing the careers of young musicians.”
Thompson expressed admiration for Roberts’ vision for Tapyard Studio, especially its focus on nurturing musical talent. “It was inspiring to learn about Sam’s history of recording albums for students and his vision for making Tapyard Studio a state-of-the-art hub for musicians.” he says: “All of this contributed significantly to why we wanted to work closely with Sam and the Tapyard team.
