ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – The Rock Island Public Library is developing a new strategic plan for the coming years, 2025-2028, and is seeking public input on library services, needs, and community priorities. I would like to know.
According to a media release from RIPL, the online community survey is open until April 1 and anyone can participate, including non-library users. A library’s strategic plan helps the library determine how to best focus its efforts and address the needs of individual patrons and the community as a whole.
“Whether you use the library a little, a lot, or not at all, your answers will help us better understand your needs and the needs of the greater community,” Lock said. said Lisa Lockhart, director of communications and outreach for the Island Public Library.
Lockhart said study participants do not need to live in Rock Island or the Milan-Blackhawk Area Public Library District. Rock He Island Library events are open to everyone and regularly serve cardholders from other libraries in Davenport and the Illinois Quad Cities. Previous research helped the library identify needs for penalty-free circulation, home delivery, after-hours book pickup, and study rooms. All of these were introduced during the current strategic plan.
Lockhart said another way to add your voice to the plan is to participate in one of three community conversation events hosted by both the library and the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department. Discussion times are as follows:
- March 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Rock Island Watts Midtown Branch, 2715 30th Street
- March 27, 2-3 p.m., Rock Island Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road.
- March 30, 10:30 a.m. to noon, Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street.
The survey can be completed here or on the library’s website, according to a media release. Paper copies are also available at libraries. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.
