aAn adorable guinea pig was found in a London Underground station with a note that read: “Needs new home.”
Staff at Canning Town station in east London discovered the small brown and white pet sitting in a cage at 4:20pm on February 18th.
RSPCA inspector Shahnaz Ahmad picked up the animal and took it to an animal welfare centre.
She said the guinea pig, which they named Disco Pig, appeared to be healthy and well-cared for, but added: “It’s very sad that someone would abandon a pet in this way.” added.
“Although this guinea pig was found alone, guinea pigs are social by nature and usually prefer the company of one or more guinea pigs.”
“Guinea pigs can exhibit abnormal behavior and can suffer if left unaccompanied.
“Abandoning pets in such a way is an incredibly cruel act and is never the solution.”
The RSPCA is appealing for anyone with information about the guinea pigs to contact the charity’s appeal line confidentially on 0300 123 8018.
In January, seven spaniel puppies found cowering in a field after being abandoned were rescued and are being treated.
The puppies were found in frigid Swanley, Kent, with severely deformed legs, covered in mange and infested with mites.
