A beach on a beautiful Scottish island has been named the third best beach in the world by leading travel experts.
The team at Condé Nast Traveler has compiled a list of the 34 best beaches in the world, with Brecon on the Isle of Eire in the Shetland Islands coming in third place. This is surpassed only by Palm Cove Beach in Australia and Honopu Beach in Hawaii.
The idyllic Ale Beach is nestled between two bright green fields, sheltered from the south-westerly winds that frequently blow through the area, Scotland’s Daily Express reported. It is also famous for its beautiful turquoise water.
Other attractions at Brecon Beach are the ruins of Viking and pre-Viking settlements that can be found around the beach. Many amazing finds have been made in this area over the years, including pottery, combs made from bone, and even Roman coins.
However, according to Condé Nast Traveler, visitors should be prepared for very cold waters if they dare to dip their toes. This beach is also located within a rural agricultural area and access requires passing through several steep slopes.
The travel publication also noted the coast’s treacherous history, saying, “This is a beautiful place with crystal clear water and perfectly powdery sand, but not everything is as visible as it is on a sunny summer day.” isn’t it.
“Many ships met their end on these shores. Learn all about the treacherous seas at the local museum in Bravo, which details the harrowing record and reveals fascinating artifacts that have washed ashore over the years. It’s on display.”
Meanwhile, the panel of experts also explained how they selected the beaches for the list. According to them, instead of the typical sandy beaches packed with tourists, they looked for beautiful, less crowded spots that might require a little more effort to get to.

Condé Nast Traveler added, “From Europe’s most beautiful beaches to far-flung beaches in Asia, Africa and beyond, these are the best beaches in the world.”
