House buying specialist Property Solvers’ Sell Speed Tool reveals that it takes an average of 17.61 weeks to sell a property across London.
The latest dataset, updated monthly, analyzed more than 9,269 real estate sales across the region from February 2023 to February 2024.
This statistic tracks properties from the moment they are listed on the UK’s main property portals until they are officially marked ‘for sale’ at HM Land Registry.
As shown in the table below, properties sold fastest in London (E3), London (E4) and Waltham Cross (EN7) when taking a minimum of 35 property sales in a particular area. In the top 10 categories, Real Estate Solver found that it took an average of 106.20 days (15.17 weeks) to sell a home.

Watford (WD19), London (SE26) and Swanley (BR8) postcodes had the slowest house sales (and sampled the smallest dataset of 35 property sales). Data shows that in the bottom 10 ZIP codes, it takes an average of 138.60 days (19.80 weeks) to sell a property.

Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers said: “While we are starting to see some notable improvements heading into 2024, continued pressure on the mortgage sector and buyers’ ability to secure the right type of financing will result in sales There are delays in completion.”
“Combined with the perceived ‘snail-paced’ nature of the transport process, these trends are likely to continue for some time,” concludes the co-founder of Greater London home sales company Fast.
