Samsung has announced that it will be incorporating new audio features into its TVs, tablets, and smartphones called Auracast, 360 Audio, and Auto Switch. Samsung has always had these features, but they will now be available on more devices and with more powerful features.
Auracast audio function
Samsung first introduced Auracast on its latest TVs and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro headphones last year. This year, the Galaxy S24 series of phones is the result of that introduction. Thanks to Bluetooth technology, one smartphone can simultaneously broadcast audio to multiple speakers or headphones.
Samsung says other phones and tablets may utilize Auracast as a transmitter or receiver. To broadcast, your smartphone must be running Samsung’s One UI 6.1, but smartphones running 5.1.1 can selectively receive Auracast broadcasts.
Supported smartphones include Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, A54 5G, M54 5G, Tab S9, Tab S9 FE, and Tab Active 5 5G .
What other audio features does Samsung support?
Another audio feature from Samsung is enhanced 360 audio. This feature creates a surround sound experience by tracking the user and head movements and adjusting the sound accordingly.
360 audio is already supported on some Samsung phones and tablets, and now works on some Samsung TVs, including Neo QLED and OLED models. To enjoy 360-degree sound, users must first pair Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or Buds 2 with a TV.
Samsung’s third audio enhancement is Auto Switch, which automatically switches the Bluetooth connection of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro on some Samsung devices. For example, if a user is watching a video on her Samsung tablet or TV and he receives a call on his Samsung mobile phone, the headphones will automatically switch to the phone. According to Samsung, Auto Switch now works on Galaxy Book laptops running One UI 6.0.
Additionally, Samsung is improving real-time translation on the Galaxy S24 series with Galaxy Buds. When Galaxy Buds are connected to a Galaxy S24 series phone, the translated audio will play through your headphones, and the person you’re talking to will hear the translated words through your phone’s speakers.
In addition to the Buds 2 Pro, these audio features will be gradually available on the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds FE starting later this month, according to Samsung. Samsung claims that these features provide users with a more immersive and smooth audio experience.
