London Fashion Week is in full swing, and models are wowing the fashion world as they walk down the runway in a series of bizarre looks, including cutouts on the torso and barely crocheted dresses.
The twice-yearly event in the British capital kicked off last Friday, with an array of weird and wonderful creations taking to the catwalk.
This time, we’re spotlighting Di Pezza, a womenswear label founded in London in 2019 by Greek designer Dimitra Pezza.
This relatively new brand has a celebrity following, with the likes of Gigi Hadid, Doja Cat, Bella Hadid and FKA Twigs wearing its intricate designs.
But despite the outpouring of support from A-listers, the bold runway look unveiled at BFC NEWGEN Show Space today is likely to leave people’s mouths agape.
One model wore a sheer cream-colored dress with a cutout at the torso that exposed her pregnant uterus.
This unique piece featured a diamond-encrusted headpiece that spread across the model’s eyes.
Di Pezza’s signature “wet look” is encapsulated in the costume’s materials, as the shirred texture gives it a fluid look.
According to Dimitra’s website, this expression symbolizes “self-acceptance” and “respect for the state of flux.”
A unique and creative makeup aesthetic was also included, with the model opting for an ethereal eyeshadow look in pink tones.
Elsewhere, in a rare incident during Di Pezza’s show, two models walked down the runway at the same time.
The models appeared to include an interpretive performance as they embraced each other through sheer, flesh-colored mesh dresses.
At one point, the model appeared to be on her knees, staring straight at her opponent.
Moments later, the models strangely appeared to embrace each other in a warm embrace.
There was also a red substance on two fingers, possibly representing blood.
The memorable pair ended their short performance by striding hand in hand to the end of the runway.
Elsewhere, another model took to the runway in a similarly daring ensemble, wearing nothing but a sparse crotch cloth.
This look included a tighter knit than the dress and a matching headpiece. Shimmering silver pants added to the rare look, and she wore nothing underneath.
The quirky show didn’t end there, as the brand brought another model down the runway with them, this time in a more divine look.
One wore a low-cut satin pirate blouse, paired with coordinating pants.
According to Dimitra’s website, the cream material, along with “traditional craftsmanship” and “original drapery techniques”, helped create the “modern goddess aesthetic” that Di Pezza was aiming for.
Other models wore fairy-like draped dresses with cutouts on the sides.
But the most unique aspect of the performance was that the two appeared to be kissing and hugging each other as they reached the end of the runway.
The two had coordinating hairstyles, and the shiny yet low-maintenance look gave them a “wet look.”
Cut-out dresses seemed to be a big part of DiPezza’s look this London Fashion Week, whether it be on the torso or the bust.
Naturally, another model strutted down the runway wearing a dress with a plunging top half.
The few remaining materials on the top half were pieced together using colorful crystals and beads.
Perhaps the most striking part of this look was the luxurious headdress, which seemed to imitate flowers using thin silver wire.
Instead of just sitting on the model’s head, the wire piece stretched across the model’s face to complete the avant-garde look.
