Homicide detectives are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was stabbed to death on a London street.
At 10:53pm on Saturday, the 17-year-old victim was found suffering from multiple knife injuries at a nighttime hotspot in Shoreditch, east London.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he died at the scene on Hackney Road, near the E2’s intersection with Kremer Street.
No arrests have been made so far.
DCS James Conway, who commands Hackney and Tower Hamlets Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who tragically lost his life. We assure them that we will work relentlessly to identify the perpetrators of this murder.
“A cordon has been set up on Hackney Road for a forensic examination of the scene and a very thorough investigation has been launched, with support from experts from across the metropolitan area.
“Local residents will also be carrying out extra patrols in Shoreditch. If you have any questions or information, please speak to our officers. They will be there to support you.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Museum of Art said a post-mortem examination and formal identification will be conducted in due course.
He added that the victim’s family had been informed and would be supported by specialist police officers.
