“Simone had access to and took inspiration from Queen Victoria’s mourning archives, so the beauty look was inspired by that…with a modern twist,” says makeup artist Thomas. Hairstylist – and trend Contributing Editor – Eugene Suleiman came up with the hairstyle. “It’s loosely inspired by Victorian women, so her hair is very, very pretty and very flat,” he told me. “Parted in the middle, it’s quite solemn.” Since the show features knit balaclavas, Suleiman designed the hair to be styled by the hat, making it appear more compact. Instead of adding Rocha’s usual sparkly accessories, the end result is sleek and rigorous by incorporating “little rolls in the hair, like they used to do in the Victorian era,” adding, “You can use your hair as an accessory.” It was decided that it would be used for But there were also earrings made of bows and beads that hung from hair rolls.
