promotion: Design studio Muza Lab created the interior and exterior spaces for the One&Only Aesthesis resort, bungalows and villas in Athens, Greece.
The resort is located in Glyfada, a southern suburb of Athens, and features a lobby, villas, restaurant, bar, beach club and spa.
Set within a 21-hectare forest reserve, One&Only Aesthesis is located close to the ancient wonders of the Greek capital.
This area is known as the Athenian Riviera and is characterized by a mild Mediterranean climate, lush vegetation, and luxurious seaside homes.
In developing the overall design scheme, Muza Lab was informed by the region’s history and culture and utilized six natural elements: fire, water, earth, air, metal, and light.
Regardless of the function, natural light is present throughout the interior space, and large windows allow both light and nature to enter the room.
Textured local stone and marble are also used throughout the scheme, anchored by natural materials found in Greece to unify the space.
The studio also looked to mid-century design when selecting finishes and furniture, evoking the era when the Athenian Riviera was at its height.
Entrance to the lobby is via a sloping catwalk designed to draw guests directly to the waterfront views.
According to Muza Lab, the lobby’s minimal interior aims to highlight the local materials used.
The neutral color palette is broken up by geometric patterns and woven leather accent pieces that celebrate the Greek leather industry.
The bungalows are clustered around expansive terraces and pools, and the interiors feature a palette of browns, beiges and bright blues.
Bright textiles and light oak joinery, complemented by leather and fabrics, enliven the bedrooms and create an authentic feel typical of the area.
The bathrooms in each bungalow are studded with bronze fixtures and stone bathtubs, creating a timeless feel.
Rain showers, distinctive light fixtures, natural stone walls and floors, and bright textiles continue to provide a tranquil and luxurious atmosphere.
The resort’s restaurants, bars, beach club, and spa have subtly different themes, including the spa, which is inspired by a Greek garden.
