From Emmanuel Onwusoro, Ado-Ekiti
The Ekiti State Government has distributed gadgets to security forces in the state for a more decisive fight against kidnappers and other criminal elements in the state.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs. Monisado Afue, while distributing equipment to heads of security agencies in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, appealed to intensify efforts to restore security of lives and property in the state.
Mrs. Afue cited the killing of two traditional rulers and the abduction of school children by armed groups, saying the move was part of the measures taken by Governor Biodun Oyebunji to strengthen security institutions.
The Deputy Governor explained that the material was provided by the Nigeria Maritime Authority Security Agency (NIMASA) in collaboration with the Ekiti State Government to enhance security and ward off criminals who threaten the state.
Expressing Governor Oyebunji’s keenness to provide adequate security, she stressed that the governor wants tight security for Ekiti, the release of the kidnapped students and their teachers and the release of some of the murderers. Two traditional rulers showed it when they traveled from far and near to make arrests.
“I would like to appeal to our security agencies here today to step up their efforts and make active use of the equipment released to them in order to provide adequate security to protect the lives and property of our citizens. I think.
“For our government, the war against criminal elements is total, and we will pursue it using all constitutional means available to guarantee the safety of our people.”
