Insta360’s first gimbal, Insta360 Flow, is the best gimbal for iPhone with its foldable design, great tracking skills, and long-lasting battery life.
If you want to take it outside the house, your mobile gimbal should be compact and lightweight. Insta360 Flow fits that requirement with dimensions of 79.6 x 162.1 x 36 mm and weight of less than 400 g.
The gimbal arm powers up with a single twist when folded, and a magnetic clamp securely attaches your phone. The magnetic clamp concept was previously seen on DJI’s OM series, and the Flow concept is strong enough to withstand up to 300g of weight.
Although the handle is small, the gimbal has a 215mm selfie stick extension and a mini tripod/grip extender, as well as a regular tripod mounting screw and space for a cold shoe to attach an external microphone.
The physical controls are simple, with the power button, record button, mode button, and thumb stick all integrated into a single touch panel on the handle. There’s also a trigger on the back to keep the phone pointing in a single direction, as well as the option to tap multiple times to center or flip the iPhone.
The rest of the controls are located within the Insta360 app, as well as a series of shooting modes, including pano, photo, video, timelapse, timeshift, slow motion, dolly zoom, and live mode. The app also has built-in editing and sharing features, but you can also choose to edit with a third-party app if you prefer.

The tracking is the best we’ve seen on a mobile gimbal, and Deep Track 3.0 allows Flow to continue tracking your subject once they reappear, even if they leave the frame. This was difficult with DJI OM 6. The stabilization, on the other hand, is great, giving you smooth and stable videos, and you can choose from his four modes: Auto, Follow, Pan Follow, and FPV.
Finally, the battery life lasts up to 12 hours on a single charge. This is twice as much as DJI OM 5 and 6. Gimbals can also be used to further power up your phone when used to record videos.
