The transformation of Eremore Country Park continues, with work starting including the creation of a brand new playground and fitness trail, refurbishing footpaths to improve access and improving parking.
The project to transform the former Eremore Golf Course into an eco-park began in 2022. This latest phase builds on earlier work to open a community space including a cafe, garden center and specialized changing rooms and facilities for residents with severe disabilities.
Work is currently starting to build a new play area for younger children within a fenced area next to the cafe. This includes a climbing wall, somersault bar, an “over and under bar” as well as a timber agility trail.
The work will also include the installation of a trim trail that utilizes the existing sidewalk network and new sidewalks to create a circular route to accommodate 10 pieces of metal equipment, including lift bars, balance beams, and jumping ladders.
New features are being added to leisure at Eremore Country Park, helping more people get outside and be active.
“Local residents have contributed to the development of plans for the country park through the Let’s Talk Elemore consultation.
“Local communities wanted an accessible country park that celebrated their local heritage and protected and strengthened local ecosystems. How will we achieve this as transformation continues? It’s really exciting to see. This next phase of our work is about enhancing the leisure offer at Eremore, making it even more accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages.”

Work to improve the car park will begin later this year to maximize parking capacity. It has been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with charging points installed and trees planted next to it.
Improved parking provision will allow more visitors to enjoy the park, including people with disabilities.
