The USA beat Australia by more than 3 seconds to win the gold medal, with Great Britain in third place.
Great Britain won bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the World Championships in Doha.
The British quartet of Mehdi Harris, Adam Peaty, Matthew Richards and Anna Hopkin finished third in 3:40.22.
As a result, they also secured a spot in the relay for this summer’s Paris Games.
“It’s a credit to the team how well we came together and were able to stay in the medals when we played against a very solid team,” Peaty said.
“It’s not that we aren’t such players, but being in top shape for Paris is not our priority right now.
“It’s always great to be part of Team Great Britain.”
The United States won the gold medal with a difference of more than three seconds over second-place Australia.
Peaty earlier finished fourth in the men’s 50m breaststroke, missing out on the podium again, but Richards made it to the men’s 100m freestyle final.
Peaty, 29, a three-time Olympic champion, also won bronze in the 100m breaststroke on Monday.
“Great Britain has been very good in the mixed medley relay for a number of years now so it’s always good to get on the podium on the world stage,” Hopkin said.
“Hopefully, come to Paris. We want to retain the Olympic title and we all want to be in this relay.”
Britain has won one gold, three silver and eight bronze medals at the World Aquatics Championships.
The 22-year-old won gold in a time of 7:40:94 ahead of Australia’s Elijah Winnington and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri.
Duncan Scott easily made it to Thursday’s men’s 200m medley final, taking first place with a draw in the semi-finals and qualifying third overall.
In the women’s 200m butterfly, Laura Stevens advanced to the finals in third place.
In the women’s 50m backstroke, Lauren Cox qualified for Thursday’s final with second place, while Kathleen Dawson narrowly missed out on a second individual final in Doha with 12th place.
