An Ascot-born Cirque du Soleil star has become a Guinness World Records title holder.
British former gymnast Lucy Colebeck has set a Guinness World Record for the most back handsprings in 30 seconds on a trampoline.
The 27-year-old power track artist set a new record by performing the acrobatic skill 36 times and breaking the minimum number of revolutions of 25.
Lucy said: “I’ve been tumbling for a long time and I’m really happy to have won this title. Since joining Cirque du Soleil in 2018, I’ve been working on Alegria – In A At Home in London.・I have always dreamed of performing with New Light.
“Being a Guinness World Records title holder inside the Royal Albert Hall makes the whole experience even more surreal and magical.”
Born in Ascot, Lucy trained at Wokingham’s Pinewood Gymnastics Club and began training with the Great Britain Tumbling Team at the age of 10.
She has represented Great Britain all over the world throughout her competitive career, including eight times British and three times European tumbling champion.
She also won silver medals at the 2013 and 2015 World Tumbling Championships, and appeared in a gala performance at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Lucy told Express: “It’s incredible how sport has taken her this far,” adding that she is now “making a living from the skillset she has developed and honed as a passion.”
She added: “[I love] Being able to tumble every day and receive the love of the audience at every show is an indescribable feeling. ”
Lucy is touring the world as a cast member of Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria – In a New Light, currently appearing in the show at the Royal Albert Hall until March 3.
This revival includes “Alegria – In a New Light,” featuring an international cast of 62 acrobats, clowns, musicians, and singers, and includes a rendition of the original classic “Alegria,” which premiered in 1994. is being reinterpreted.
Guinness World Records judge Megan Bruce said: “We knew Cirque du Soleil had a great cast, but seeing these record attempts up close and personal was something else.
“I was amazed at the level of flexibility and upper body strength that Oyun Erdene showed. Lucy’s attempt was lightning fast and allowed her to set the record with at least five seconds to spare.”
