Fitness is a team effort at Plymouth’s new gym.
F45 Training, a Southern California-style gym, already has one location in Maple Grove. The owners hope this location will be more convenient for some members.
“Everyone comes here with a purpose,” said Jason Neldner, owner of F45 in Plymouth. “Maybe they want to lose weight or gain muscle. But ultimately you have to motivate them.”
The gym’s name “F45” stands for Functional 45 Minutes.
In other words, this gym offers circuit-style, high-intensity interval training in 45-minute sessions. Coaches help motivate the class as they move from station to station.
The Plymouth F45 store held its grand opening on Saturday, February 10th.

“You’ve already seen it here. You can see it in the size of our classes and the energy and excitement of the people,” Neldner said, noting the busyness of the classes. “At the end of the day, you really get to see your friends.”
Neldner said they were inspired to open their first studio in 2021 as the couple was looking for a change of pace. Almost three years later, the number two position is solid.

The challenging nature of working out at F45 helps build a sense of community.
“Training is never easy,” Noelder said. “They challenge you. It’s also what you put in. But they also want to inspire each other.”
According to Noelder, much of F45 Gym’s success is due to its trainers.
But Nelder said working out alongside others can also be a good experience.
“This is probably my second home,” said F45 member Ali Domier. “I really love it here. It’s a great group of people and the workouts are great, so it’s hard to leave.”
Domier came from Fridley for the training. She said she looks forward to her daily commute.
James Murray was also a founding member of the Plymouth Club. He and his wife exercise together.
“I think it’s perfect to work out with people in the community and get encouragement,” Murray said. “Here, things that you would normally do on your own are overtaken. Where I am, it’s necessary.”
The new location is located at 3900 N. Vinewood Avenue, near Lockwood Road and Interstate 394.
