Kenya’s former prime minister has announced that marathon world record holder and London Marathon winner Kelvin Kiptum and his coach have died in a car accident.

Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga said on He passed away from this world,” he said.
“Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones, friends, and the entire athletics community.
“Our nation deeply mourns the loss of a true hero.”
Kiptam broke the course record of last year’s London Marathon and became the second fastest marathoner in history to win the men’s event, finishing in 2 hours, 1 minute and 25 seconds.
