Pagoda Arts is part of the fabric of Liverpool’s cultural scene and has over 40 years’ experience of working with local communities to develop and deliver high quality activities and performances that pay homage to Chinese culture and art . As the city prepares to enjoy Lunar New Year celebrations, Chief Executive Zi Lan Liao reflects on the exciting year ahead.
Lunar New Year celebrations are a time of joy, renewal, and cultural celebration, and we are excited to bring our passion for Chinese music and art to the forefront once again.
At Pagoda Arts, we are extremely grateful to our long-standing supporters at Arts Council England for their solid support of the Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra, Europe’s first and largest Chinese youth orchestra. Masu. Our collaboration with Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool is another partnership that has helped showcase our cultural heritage and foster cross-cultural exchange.
Culture Liverpool’s belief in our music fusion vision has enabled us to successfully deliver projects such as touring the UK and creating the award-winning album ‘Chinese Dub’. These initiatives not only showcase the richness of Chinese culture, but also encourage young musicians to explore and innovate.
Culture Liverpool continues to fund and initiate a variety of collaborative opportunities, delivering fusion projects such as Jasmine Flower Dub, Tian Qiyi and Imagine Bamboo Ensemble. These collaborations have allowed us to push the boundaries of fusion music and bring our vibrant, eclectic sound to a younger generation.
Arts Council England and Culture Liverpool’s unwavering support and recognition of the importance of cultural exchange has been invaluable to us.
Their commitment to fostering collaboration and celebrating diversity aligns perfectly with Pagoda Arts’ mission. Together, we have created unforgettable experiences that showcase the beauty and richness of Chinese culture while promoting understanding and appreciation among diverse audiences.

Pagoda Arts was recently honored at the Global Chinese Spring Festival Gala 2024. Liao Ziran was awarded the China Role Model 2023 Outstanding Women honor.
