A British skier has fallen hundreds of meters to his death on a Swiss ski slope known as one of the most difficult in the world.
The Chavanette route, commonly known as the Swiss Wall, in the Valais ski resort near Champery, was closed at the time of the fatal accident. The 47-year-old man died at the scene despite first aid attempts. According to the report, the fall occurred at around 9:45 a.m. Swiss time. Valais cantonal police said the man was with two other people, a skier and a snowboarder.
This trail is classified as orange in the Swiss/French difficulty rating system, meaning it is too difficult to fit into standard classifications.
